OverviewThe expenditure figures presented in these charts provide a comparative snapshot on the value of activities carried out by the organizations of the UN system. These figures are extracted from the latest available audited financial statements of the relevant organizations. Most refer to the biennium 2004-2005, with the exception of UN Peacekeeping Operations (1 July 2004 to 30 June 2006). Expenditure originates from regular resources, as well as trust funds, technical cooperation, and other non regular resources. Expenditure in-kind has been deducted when separately reported in the financial statement. Amounts originally in currencies other than USD have been translated using either the exchange rate indicated in the relevant financial statement or, otherwise, an exchange rate obtained with the averaging method from the UN official rates for the period. The significant value of programme expenditure incurred by executing or implementing agencies on behalf of the funding organization could not - except rare cases - be isolated. Amounts are therefore shown as appearing in the total expenditure line of the financial statements, without further manipulation. charts
